Badrinath Temple Photos

Badrinath is one of the sacred places in Chardham Yatra which is situated in Uttarakhand. This holy town Badrinath has a temple called Badrinath/Badri Vishal or Badrinarayan temple which belongs to lord Vishnu, who is referred to be one the most powerful god in Hindu mythology. Every year a large number of Vaishnavites come to Badrinath to get the blessing of Lord Vishnu in the form of Badrinarayan. Badrinath town according to Hindu mythology constitute of five temples: Adi Badri, Yog Dhyan Badri, Bhavishya Badri, Vridha Badri along with Badrinath Temple.

Badrinath Temple on the right bank of Alaknanda is considered to be about 3,100 meters (10,170 feet) above sea level. This lord Badrinarayan (Vishnu) temple lies between a mountain rages called Nar and Narayana. Although according to the legends, it is believed that the Lord Badrinarayan idol was first discovered by Adi Shankaracharya in the Alaknanda River in the 8th century and installed in one of the caves near the hot water spring of Tapt Kund. The Present temple was considered to be built by the King of Garhwal in the 16th century. In the early days, devotees considered to be used to walk barefoot hundreds of miles to visit Badrinath temple.

This is one of the 108 Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu and the current temple architecture resembles a Buddhist Vihara (temple). The temple is open for six months and closed for six months due to the extreme weather of the Himalayas, devotees from around the world come here during these months to experience eternal bliss along with spirituality.
